I’m not sure if you can tell by that picture, but there were about 200 people jammed into a regular, strip-mall sized bookstore (by no means a Borders or B&N) on one of the warmest days of the year thus far (75°F), with two teeny tiny rows of chairs, for like, twenty people, and a LOT OF PEOPLE standing, shoulder to shoulder, for two hours.
To say I was feeling a little claustrophobic would be putting it mildly. Fortunately, we weren’t too far from the entrance, so I could feel a small breeze every once in a while that kept it from being horribly stuffy.
Patrick Rothfuss was a hilarious guy and I thoroughly enjoyed his readings and Q&A, despite standing. That sucked. I’m a wimp. We were in the second grouping of the line for book signings, so we went to McDonalds for a little while before rejoining the line for approx. 20 minutes. No bigs. He was very gracious and signed our books and commented how much he loved my t-shirt and wanted to know where he could buy one for himself. Awesome! 😀
In sum, lots of standing, awesome author, still am not even half way through the book!
