We picked up some pumpkin streusel muffins at Costco. They’re, ok. Mostly, they taste like muffin. If you only eat the stump, you get some pumpkiny flavor, but if you eat the streusel, it’s just SUGARRRRRRR. I wish it had some more spice to it.
We just got back from a veeerry nice dinner at The Barrel Room off of Bernardo Center up in this neck of the woods. My parents were down for the day. It wasn’t Carl’s Jr. cheap, but it wasn’t Donovan’s expensive either. Super reasonable for the amazing quality of food. Definitely one of the best new restaurants I’ve been to in a while! I had a potato-crusted sea bass, $19, which was absoluuuutely fabulous.
The best part of the
restaurant bistro is that they have a wine bar and a bunch of big comfy couches and lounge chairs that you can wait in or even eat there, if you’re feeling adventurous (my parents are table-fans, though). We had some bruschetta that was awesome and a bottle of some mixed red wine.

I just made New Mexican sopaipillas from this recipe. It’s puffy fried dough with honey on top. I have a bunch and you do not! 🙂
After eating a cranberry-orange scone at CUPS this morning, I decided I could make them myself. So I did. And they are good.
(We’re going to forget about the glaze I tried to make with powdered sugar and orange juice and the dead ants I found in the sugar. Obviously, it got chucked. Damn ants.)
New favorite mini-meal/snack: plain yogurt with cut up strawberries, blueberries, cut up banana, and craisins. Mmmmmm. It’s like eating healthy dessert!
